New England Airgun was started because of my wife Zee.  I was looking for something we could do together.  My thing was Motorcycles, Hockey, Martial Arts.... all things she didn't care for or tried and didn't agree with her.  Crashing 3 wheelers, Concussion from falling on the ice,  Karate....  long story and they asked me to ask her not to come back, i also quit that Dojo.

So what to do?    I overheard her phone conversation with a friend,  a real estate client took her Skeet Shooting as a thank you for getting them into their new home.  She told her friend that she loved it!    I never new she liked to shoot guns.   I also heard the Massachusetts government removed Airguns from the FID Card requirement. (makes sense... as defined a firearm uses gun powder to create fire (and explosion) to expel a bullet and an airgun doesn't, it uses compressed air.)   aka this is why they call firearms  "powder burners."    So I went down to the Marlborough Walmart and picked up a Crosman Nitro Venom .177 break barrel, Wrapped it up, and hid it in the attic for Christmas.  Requirements to purchase the airgun... 18+,  that's it,  no license or training class to take and drag out the surprise gift!

December 14, 2012  -  The Sand Hook school shooting happened. A very sad day for the whole nation.  Also a new challenge for anyone who enjoys the shooting sports.  I now had an issue with my great new surprise gift and sport the two of us could enjoy together.   My plans were to shoot in the woods at the end of our neighborhood as our yard is too small and close to the neighbors. There is an elementary school we walk thru the property to get into the woods.  Even airguns in the woods behind the elementary school isn't going to be acceptable. Time for plan B.

Next options is to go where the firearms shooters go to... the sportsman clubs!  They have appropriate and safe shooting areas for firearms... and we shoot the same material they shoot in our lead pellets,  problem solved!   Nope think again.  Every club told me,  No Firearms License, No access to the Firearms range!   Ok I thought.. .they just don't know the law was changed for airguns,  they aren't considered a firearm and no license is required.  This didn't help,  they still stuck with the no license, no access. ;-(

Again the challenges are real and I thought,  other must be having this problem so how can this be fixed?   This is were the idea to open a Lead-Free, Airgun-Only,  Indoor shooting range and store was born!   

The first in the country, our Lead-Free, Airgun-Only,  Indoor shooting range and store had a years worth of other challenges to solve ,  but we did open on Friday the 13th in 2014!   My lucky day and and My lucky number!   13 wasn't so lucky as a kid but I embraced it and made it Lucky.

Our Mission is to provide safety training and a safe location for the enjoyment of target shooting.  Yes our safety training is long and we wish it could be shortened but to cover everything that needs to be covered it takes 45 min.  Training for a Firearms license is typically 4-6 hours.  

As the New England Airgun business has grown,  so has our offerings.   We started with 1 model pistol and 1 model rifle.  We had 1 of each for rent, and 2 of each for sale.   Today we have a full store with many manufactures and models, and 3 onsite storage areas for the rest.  We have some airsoft and some personal protection products ( pepper spray and pepper launchers.)

Indoor shooting is great!   no bugs,  no sunburn,  t-shirt weather year around.  we have that covered.
Outdoor shooting,  yes that is great too,  more challenges with longer distance, larger calibers, and Physical Terrain to navigate. We have been working with many firearms clubs to make them airgun friendly and expand where we can all enjoy the shooting sports.

Covid-19 was another challenge, we had to expand our phone system to handle the additional calls because we couldn't meet in person.  This began as a complete failure as Verizon not only botched the order for 3 months, they also shut off our only phone number for 3 months.   Google Business Phone was our savior!  Not even a sorry letter from Verizon.  This also forced us from one website to two websites,  one for information and the other for an online store!  now New England Airgun is open 24 hour, 7 days a week thanks to the online store.

In 2025 we are working on hosting a National Shooting event TBAC 2025,  The Berkshire Airgun Challenge!  4 days of shooting to see who is the best in 100 Yard Benchrest, Speed, Big-Bore long distance, and PSC "Precision Shooter Challenge.
